AMES Memory
One of the best memories that I have of AMES was a tradition that my friends and me had during my junior year. For lunch we would often hang out inside Ms. Noyce's room and she would leave dictionaries lying around the tables. I don't remember exactly when it started, but my friend Abagail would grab one of these dictionaries, open it up to a random page, and then point to the first word that she saw. She would read the word out loud along with its definition and my friend Julianna would write the word down on a list called the "Words of the day". We would do this consistently every day throughout the entire year and we ended up with a really interesting list as well as an intense ritualistic way of opening up the book which included doing a drumroll and giving a dramatic look to Abby. Carly Jackson, Natalia Johansen, Jakob Butterfield, Ricardo Vargas and quite a few others were part of the group. It was also a moment to look forward to during lunch and the words that we learned along the way were pretty cool, I'm definitely going to miss it.
