Effective Communication
In my U of U writing class our teacher, Ms. Mckenna, really wanted each student to familiarize themselves a lot more with different English grammar rules. She figured that a good way to do this was to assign each of us a rule that we could present on.
I decided to tackle Subject-Verb agreement, since I had literally no idea what it was about. With a bit of research though, everything started to make sense. The hard part was going to be making the rules make sense to all of my other classmates. While presenting this power point I went through each rule very slowly and wrote different sentence examples on the board to make sure that my peers understood clearly. I would also often ask them their opinion on what they thought a certain sentence would end up saying. Then I would ask them to come up with their own sentence and share it. I feel that how I organized the information and how I provided examples helped me carry through my message and that is why the assignment fits in perfectly with this DRSL. |
