Critical Thinking
This project was probably one of my favorites throughout the year. I worked on it with two of my friends: Julianna Heskett and Ricardo Vargaz. The guidelines for the project were to create a video with the people in the group acting out some scenes from William Shakespeare's play, Macbeth, or come up with our retelling of the story. We chose the second option, and that is where the critical thinking comes in.
The original play was set in really early Scotland, showing how a soldier becomes a murderer to become the country's king.We had to figure out a way to retell the story so that it wasn't completely the same. Most of our companions were choosing to do a story along the lines of a high school setting with a Prom king. My friends and I wanted to do something a little different, so we had to think of many ideas. The end result was of a fashion designer wanting to become the CEO of a fashion company. This idea is what helped us continue on in the project.
This was not the only thing that we had to consider when we were making the project. We also had to think of ways the we could change the original story, so that it made sense with the setting we had chosen. Many ideas were thrown around, but in the end we were able to put everything together into a great project that really showed an understanding of the play.
